The Direct Vision Standard (DVS) is new safety legislation from the TFL Safety Lorry Scheme, created to improve the safety of all road users, including pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists.
The Direct Vision Standard (DVS) is new safety legislation from the TFL Safety Lorry Scheme, created to improve the safety of all road users, including pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists.
From 26th October 2020, according to the TFL Safer Lorry Scheme, HGVs over 12 tonnes gross vehicle weight will need a Safety Permit to enter Greater London.
- Zero Star HGVs (vehicles with the poorest direct vision) will need a Safe System fitted to apply
- One to Five Star vehicles can apply without the need to provide further evidence.
The new DVS safety standards come into effect on 26th October 2020 (although enforcement and new charges have been postponed until 1st March 2021 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic).
Zero Star HGVs without a Safe System fitted will be banned.
HGVS WITHOUT PERMIT ENTERING GREATER LONDON WILL BE FINED UP TO £550 PER DAY.
